When the dreaded words ‘dress code’ is mentioned at school, it causes most women to roll their eyes. People might say ‘it’s to help them dress for success.’, but what does that honestly mean though? Does showing off my shoulders and collarbones not make me successful in how I learn at school? Is the dress code meant to get boys from being distracted? Are you saying they can’t control themselves? You go to school to learn, not be worried you’ll be pulled out of class because your shirt doesn’t cover your backside when you wear leggings. “This is what dress codes actually do ” is a video that gives first-hand accounts from students who have gone through dress code violations at their own schools. I believe that the dress code can cause women to feel ashamed. It’s embarrassing and demeaning to go through. I believe we need to be more lenient on how we tell others to dress. If you think it will distract boys then maybe you should have a meeting with the boys on how they should act instead of telling girls to cover up. We are not here for your ‘boys will be boys’ crap.
